Whether you are spiritual or not. Whether you believe the moon affects us or not. The lunar cycle can be a magical process on a business level.

For some, this will make sense. For others, this may all be a little too woo-woo. But if it could enhance your life in any way it’s worth a read, right?

When we first saw a lot of successful entrepreneurs talk about the moon, we were intrigued, but I will be honest with you; we didn’t really ‘get it’.

We saw them get clear on their intentions. We saw them do rituals. We saw them speak about cycles.

But we struggled with the idea as to how it would affect us in life and business. We also could not find too many resources that explained it in a way that we could relate to.

We struggled to understand how the moon could affect us.

It wasn't until we came across the following idea that our mindset shifted and opened up to the idea that the moon could influence us:

The thought that changed our outlook:

If we believe that the entire sea is affected by the moon then surely it makes sense that we (as humans that are made up of at least 50% of water) may be affected too?

If it could have any positive impact on us physically or mentally, if it could help us in life and business, it was our duty to delve in further.

So that is what we did. And this is what we found.

So first of all, let’s get some of the frequently asked questions out of the way.

NEW MOON VS FULL MOON

New moon vs full moon, what is the difference?

People often think that the full moon and the new moon are the same. We totally put our hands up and admit we never understood the difference either. And even though they may be close to each other on the calendar, they are in fact so different.

To explain this simplistically, the new moon is all about new beginnings. No matter what went on in the previous lunar cycle, the new moon offers us a new and clean slate. A fresh chance, a unique opportunity, to develop as human beings and to make an impact on the world.

The full moon, however, is all about completion. It is the end of the lunar cycle. Through the lunar cycle the moon matures, and it grows to its fullest point: the full moon.

So let's talk about new moon rituals. You know we love a ritual!

There are so many versions of the new moon ritual. But for this post, we are going to focus on the rituals you can do regarding business.

DETOX

Out with old and in with the new. Part of the ritual is detoxing. Getting rid of the things that no longer serve you.

To apply this to your business, we suggest writing a list of all the things in your life and business that are not serving you.

We know that getting started is not always easy, so here are some prompts to get you started.

Things in my business that are not serving me:

  • Software that is not enhancing my business.
  • Processes to change.
  • Daily routines that are not helping me create my best work.
  • Clients that you can no longer serve.
  • Forgive the situations. You do not need to forgive people, but you can release the hold that the situation has over you.

CLEANSING

Then there is the physical act of cleansing. Cleansing your office and your body is an excellent place to start.

Sage your office. Burn sage and open all of the windows to let the stagnant energy out. Sure, this may be a little woo-woo, but think about it in this way: your office space is where you talk to clients, you deal with money, perhaps other people come into your office, and their energy is there too.

Try it this ritual and see if it makes you feel better within 24 hours. It is better to go in with your mind open and get results than never trying anything new.

To cleanse your mind and body consider taking a bath filled with Epsom salts. Epsom salts draw toxins out of your body and soothe your muscles. Epsom salts are famously popular with body hacker, Tim Ferris.

Draw a bath put around 1-2 cups of salts in the water and add any of your favourite essential oils.

INTENTIONS

Get clear on your intentions.

By knowing what you want and getting clear on your intentions, it will be easier to align with them.

Here are some prompts to get you thinking:

  • How do you want to feel within your business?
  • How do you want your business to make others feel?
  • Is there a word that summarises your focus?

Write down your intentions as if they have already happened and be grateful for them!

For example:

"Thank you for my 1000 person launch of my new product X."

Once you have completed the ritual, finish with meditation.

Meditation will help you clear your mind and relax.

Hopefully, this post has changed your thinking around the new moon, and you can see how it can have a place within your business life. There are so many resources and posts that talk about how the lunar cycle and your personal life so it is well worth checking those out too!
